Farewell, Rob Ford 2: a case for stronger mayor or against amalgamation?

Richard Florida’s suggestion that the Rob Ford saga in Toronto underlines the need need for more powerful mayors brought a powerful rebuttal from former Toronto Mayor John Sewell.

The problem lies not in the mayor’s powers, says Sewell, but in the forced amalgamation of Toronto with it’s suburbs by former Conservative Premier Mike Harris.
