Maple Ridge council joins Vancouver call for provincial regulation of party buses
Vancouver’s call for provincial regulation of party buses, which operate virtually without oversight and have been linked to a number of tragic incident, including fatalities, involving teens, has been endorsed by Maple Ridge council. Maple Ridge Mayor Ernie Daykin took up the issue, and council debated the matter with local MLAs present who promised to take the matter forward in Victoria.
Vancouver council unanimously passed a motion I proposed Feb. 4 after reading of the long struggle of Julie Raymond and her daughter Danielle to win appropriate regulations in the wake of Julie’s daughter (Danielle’s sister) Shannon in 2008.
